How did the Diginome concept start?
Diginome™ is a privately held company that was established in 2003 as a research and development firm to develop and gain the Intellectual Property right to embedding any digital object with it own DNA style history. A small group of seasoned business visionaries, advisers and leading technical architects have been working to create a new data dimensional concept called “Diginome™ ”. "Diginome™ " is a patented approach that can keep a digital heredity on any digital object, file or digit – digital DNA so to speak. The original motivation stemmed from the major gap that exists in data auditing, data validation, data integrity verification, and compliance in the financial sectors, but it has rapidly been applied to many different business scenarios. The conceptual data area that this directly addresses is something called “data provenance”.
Can you explain what data provenance is and how Diginome addresses this?
Provenance is the origin or source from which something comes, and the history of subsequent owners (also known in some fields as “chain of custody”). The term is often used in the sense of place and time of manufacture, production or discovery. Comparative techniques, expert opinion, written and verbal records and the results of tests are often used to help establish provenance.
"Data Provenance" establishes the origins of any data (digits) used by an organization with complete, undisputable integrity. This is what Diginome™ provides - a blanket of data provenance over the digital world.
How is Diginome used?
Any object, file or digit (data value) is registered along with specific fundamental characteristics allowing full understanding of what has created it, changed it, or acted upon it (characteristics like what the event was, the time of the event, who did it, and so on). Not only does the Diginome™ paradigm retain the digital characteristics of digits, but it also links them to any other digital object that they may have been derived from. This creates the digital heredity (from digital birth to current digital state). It is then possible to trace a digits life from where it is currently being used back through its entire ancestry. This type of need underpins many basic services across business and government globally.
What other Diginome characteristics or features are there?
In addition to the Diginome™ registry and heredity aspects, the paradigm can also create digital categorizations based on complex rules that provide yet another dimension of representation of the Diginome™ registered object. These characterizations or Diginome™ “traits” as we call them might be things like data privacy traits, under SOX controls traits, so on. They really can be any number of traits for any purpose. One or more Diginome™ traits form a Diginome™ pool (much like or genetic pool) and can be represented visually by a Diginome™ “marker”. Thus, a particular data value (say, for instance a quarterly net sales value on a company’s balance sheet) may have traits of being highly sensitive data and under SOX controls. These Diginome™ traits, pools, and markers can easily be leveraged by security frameworks (for authentication/authorization), for auditing processes, for compliance validation, for fraud detections, the list is infinite.
Where are we with Diginome™ ? (What exists? And, what are our immediate plans?)
We have been creating several small prototypes of different scenarios with great success and are currently seeking avenues of application and strategic partners. There was a formal patent granted for Diginome™ in 2005, several are now pending and we are constantly expanding our Patent footprint. We are extending our scalability tests and opening up dialog with strategic businesses that may find immediate and long-term benefits with Diginome™ .
What is Diginome™ ?
Diginome™ is truly a new dimension of data that when woven into a company’s digital fabric, can provide for complete data traceability, data auditability, data value validation, and can provide a robust way to classify or categorize data for any number of control uses. Essentially, Diginome™ provides a company “digital DNA” for any data value that they create or use.
Where can Diginome™ be applied (used) in Financial Services?
Perhaps the easiest business sector to apply Diginome™ to is in financial reporting and financial services. With the ever increasing corporate liability issues along with compliance rules and regulations surrounding financial data in companies around the world, there is a huge (perhaps independent) need to validate, guarantee integrity, and audit all data that is even remotely related to a companies financial picture. This would include knowing the who, what, and when involved in creating the financial data that is being reported. No one application software company can integrate or correlate this type of data across all systems that may have a hand in financial services or financial reporting. And, in fact, have not ventured into this area because of its heterogeneous nature. Diginome™ is designed as a fundamentally independent and verifiable component of a company’s infrastructure and is put into place as a black box type of system within a company (or as a service) and becomes the data provenance mechanism for all systems that need this type of integrity. As financial related data is created and manipulated in everyday business, Diginome™ is there tying it all together filling the major gap of accountability, integrity, and auditability. A Chief Financial Officer of a major company can now confidently publish his year-end financial instruments to the SEC and others knowing that all data is completely auditable and verifiable at the drop of a hat.
Where can Diginome™ be applied (used) in Government Sectors?
Many areas come to mind; homeland security, Social Security identity, Passport identity, even in the financial allocations, funding and distributions that comprise all government spending. Even the Department of Defense could leverage the obfuscation (abstraction of data reference) that is built into the Diginome™ environment. We do talk a lot about financial data but in fact Diginome™ is about the heredity and DNA of any type of digital data. Very similar to how DNA was discovered over 50 years ago we have created and uncovered a new data dimension-digital DNA. We are trying to keep it simple and digestible by focusing on specific vertical applications.
Where else is a good fit for Diginome™ ?
Significant areas that come to mind are in any data reporting platforms for our corporate world. Increasing Data Warehousing integrity is at the top of the list here. How often in company’s does the data in the data warehouse get questioned or completely disqualified? Far too often. By overlaying the Diginome™ paradigm onto the data delivery platforms of companies, all data delivered in the enterprise is 100% verifiable from its origin. Thus, completely salvaging the massive spend in building up the data warehousing/reporting infrastructure and instilling a “fully trusted” quality to it that was not present before.

Governance, data integrity, all big words for big companies, but I am an SMB, could Diginome™ help me?
Yes, after installing Diginome™ you will be able to answer such essential questions as: "did every customer get exactly what they ordered?", "was every customer invoiced for exactly what was provided to them?", "Did I get paid on every invoice I send out?". These are simple questions but without Diginome™ they are hard to answer correctly.
How invasive is it to install Diginome™ ?
Not invasive at all; We do NOT change anything in your current infrastructure or applications. The central Diginome™ server is installed on a separate server (or inside a virtual machine) and all we do is to add a small non-intrusive agent on each system where your data is being accessed. The agents collect the "DNA samples" and send them to the central Diginome™ server that will do all the processing. Thus there is no significant impact on your current servers and applications.
Does the product have its own dashboard?
Diginome™ provides a dashboard or it can be integrated with your existing dashboard or reporting software.
Is the product ready to be shipped/Product Status?
Diginome™ is scalable and ready to be integrated to any client environment.
What's the engagement model?

No, however, the hooks are already in place with Paraccel and we have a strategic relationship. Diginome™ works well with all the leading and emerging technologies
Is being offered as an enterprise license (traditional approach) or also available as a Cloud offering?
It works well in both scenarios and we are open to offer them in Private or Public Cloud formats
Do you have integration partners?
We have an internal integration team for rapid deployment as necessary. We also have a trained external integration partner along with capability to work with any major integrator of clients choice.
